About the piece:
This piece reclaims Medusa not as monster, but as myth distorted. Once a beautiful mortal, her transformation was not born of evil but of punishment — for being desired, not desiring. Guardian seeks to restore her dignity, presenting her not as a warning, but as a witness. With reverence, I invite the viewer to see strength where history cast shame, and to reflect on how power is often shaped by the gaze upon it. The work honours her complexity — protector and punished, feared and misunderstood — and invites a deeper seeing: one that challenges what we've been taught to turn away from.
